We recently launched an online leadership community, The Watercooler. One member, Oana Filip of Pixelgrade, shares her experience as a part of it.
“Leadership, as any other management concepts, can be tricky to understand and internalize.”
Oana Filip, a digital strategist at Pixelgrade, wrote this recently. And I couldn’t agree more. Learning how to grow as a leader can feel like an amorphous thing to do.
Personally, I’ve found myself frustrated that there didn’t seem to be an accessible, high-quality way to get support and advice from fellow leaders, so I could improve my own leadership skills. So we at Know Your Team decided to build our own online community for leaders: The Watercooler.
I’ve been blown away, quite frankly by the reception. In less than 90 days, we have 400 leaders (and counting!) from all over the world, participating in 700+ conversations. From “how to run an all-hands meeting” to “how to let go of someone” to “the best questions to ask during a one-on-one” to “how to hire more diversely” — I’m surprised every day by the vulnerability in people’s responses, and the generosity of wisdom that fellow members offer to each other.
Oana is one of these 1,000+ Watercooler members. On her own accord, she decided to write up some of her own personal experiences in The Watercooler. She writes:
“There are three specific areas in which I feel that The Watercooler brings me huge worth.”
Read her 3 takeaways as a Watercooler member here.
At the very least, I hope her insights help you along your own path of growth as a leader.
