We&#8217;ve made it easy to do well (especially while remote).<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/interactauthentically.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Interact-Report-V2.pdf\">2015 Interact\/Harris Poll<\/a> with 1,000 employees, 63% of employees do not think their managers give positive recognition in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ouch. Might you accidentally be one of those managers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s all good \ud83d\ude42 That&#8217;s why we built <a href=\"https:\/\/knowyourteam.com\/m\/features\/shout_outs\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=cta\">&#8220;Shout-outs \ud83d\udce3&#8221;<\/a>\u2013 a brand new feature in <a href=\"http:\/\/knowyourteam.com\/m\/features\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=cta\">Know Your Team<\/a> to encourage rapport by sharing meaningful positive recognition in your team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Positive feedback is such an easy thing to forget to do when we&#8217;re in the thick of the day to day of our work. They&#8217;ll get soft, occasional nudges via email from time to time to share a shout-out about a peer who&#8217;s work has gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not really a &#8220;Shout-outs kind of person&#8221;? I totally get it. For some of us, giving positive recognition in the workplace can feel more unnatural, than for others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-here-are-some-quick-tips-to-give-a-shout-out-that-feels-meaningful-and-not-contrived\">Here are some quick tips to give a shout-out that feels meaningful and not contrived\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Don&#8217;t force it. <\/strong>No need to use shout-outs unless there is something you truly do want to recognize a team member for \u2013 or else, it&#8217;ll feel artificial.<\/li><li><strong>Be specific. <\/strong>Calling out a specific event or instance will make your feedback feel more significant.<\/li><li>Share a customer review. One of the best ways to positively recognize someone is to share the words of a customer or client about the work they&#8217;ve done. <\/li><li><strong>Remove buzzwords.<\/strong> \u201cYou\u2019re a rock star who\u2019s killing it.\u201d Yuck. Anytime you use a trite phrase, you erode the sincerity within your comment. Don\u2019t depend on hyperbole to communicate your praise. Take a moment to be genuine. Say what you mean.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use <a href=\"https:\/\/knowyourteam.com\/m\/features\/shout_outs\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=cta\">Shout-outs<\/a> in KYT to do all of the above \u2013 even if giving a shout-out normally isn&#8217;t 100% your style \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope this is useful, particularly as you&#8217;re working remotely.
