When I became the CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/canopy.is\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=heartbeat-podcast\">Canopy<\/a> (formerly Know Your Team\/Know Your Company) and happened to be out in San Francisco, we grabbed sushi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll never forget how insightful, curious, and hilarious he was to talk to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So as part of this interview series, <a href=\"http:\/\/theheartbeat.news\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Heartbeat<\/a>, John was one of the first people I wanted chat with. I was interested to get to the heart of what he saw as leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those you unfamiliar with John\u2019s work, he currently serves at the Global Head of Computational Design &amp; Inclusion at <a href=\"https:\/\/automattic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automattic<\/a>. Previously, he was the Design Partner at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kpcb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers<\/a>, and the 16th President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.risd.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rhode Island School of Design<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was honored to steal some time with him for this interview.
